About PINTaD

Mission

To provide a forum to evaluate, discuss, and recommend methods and strategies for imaging in clinical trials, for the sake of all stakeholders.

Purpose

To give the various stakeholders in imaging clinical trials a voice with which to influence and advance the field, and to further its acceptance by industry and regulatory bodies.

Who we consider a stakeholder

Our forum is deliberately open: we welcome input from regulatory bodies, professional organizations, cooperative groups, and anyone else with a stake in the outcome.

The majority of our members come from pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries; contract research organizations; central imaging laboratories; academics, consultants, clinicians, radiologists, and nuclear medicine physicians.

Our History

PINTaD began in 2002 as the PhRMA biomarker working group. As imaging grew in importance within the biomarker space, the group expanded into the extended PhRMA Imaging Group, bringing in imaging vendors, imaging CROs, the National Institutes, regulatory agencies, professional organizations such as the RSNA, key opinion leaders, and academics.

The impetus was a shared observation: the absence of harmonized, standardized processes was damaging the quality, cost, efficiency, and effectiveness of trials that relied on medical imaging. Imaging professionals inside pharmaceutical companies did not yet have the critical mass to meaningfully influence the field. The answer was to build alliances with larger stakeholders.

In 2013 we renamed as the Pharma Imaging Network for Therapeutics and Diagnostics.
